Ethiopia Basha Bekele
Ethiopia Basha Bekele
This coffee is produced in Charcho village, located within Murago in the Bensa area of Sidama, Ethiopia.
Basha Bekele and neighboring farmers selectively hand-pick fully ripened red cherries. Because the cherries ripen at different times, harvesters visit the same tree multiple times to pick only those that are sufficiently ripe.
Once harvested, the cherries arrive at the processing mill where they are floated in water to remove low-density cherries. They are then separated from overripe cherries, underripe cherries, and foreign matter on sorting tables.
The selected cherries are immediately spread onto African raised beds covered with clean plastic mesh and dried for approximately 23 to 28 days. Once the moisture content reaches about 11.5%, drying is completed, and the coffee is stored in sacks.
Afterward, it undergoes primary hulling and sorting at Basha's dry mill located in Bombe before being transported to an export warehouse in Addis Ababa.
